Romanian Border Police report 122,600 crossings in 24 hours

The Romanian Border Police reported that in a 24-hour period ending August 8, 2026, over 122,600 people and approximately 21,100 vehicles transited the country's external borders, including crossings with Serbia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

On the entry side into Romania, officials processed 62,763 individuals and 10,261 vehicles. Since February 10, 2022, a total of 15,508,447 Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania under specific national and community regulations.

Regarding internal border controls with Hungary and Bulgaria, travelers move within the Schengen area without stopping at border police booths, though random checks remain possible within 30 km of the borders. In the last 24 hours, authorities conducted over 17,700 checks using the eDAC application. During this period, border police identified 99 illegal acts, consisting of 35 offenses and 64 contraventions, resulting in fines totaling 92,307 lei.
