Romanian and Moldovan border police detain several suspects

On 26 June a 41‑year‑old Moldovan citizen was stopped at the Rădăuţi‑Prut crossing after presenting a Transnistrian driving licence that is not recognised in Romania. Police opened a criminal investigation for driving without a valid licence.

On 27 June a 47‑year‑old Portuguese man wanted for kidnapping and murder was intercepted at the Siret border crossing. A European Arrest Warrant had been issued and he was taken into custody.

Moldovan border police also arrested a person suspected of organising an illegal migration attempt, describing him as a member of a criminal network facilitating cross‑border trafficking.
