Romanian border police seize stolen cars from Germany, Poland, Hungary, Italy

On 20 June, border police at the Albiţa crossing in Iaşi county stopped a 55‑year‑old Romanian‑Moldovan man attempting to bring a German‑registered vehicle worth about 20,000 lei into Romania. The car and its registration documents were flagged in German databases as stolen and were seized for further investigation.

Two days later, Suceava County border police discovered three additional vehicles sought by foreign authorities. On 22 June, two Polish‑registered cars, valued at roughly 340,000 lei, were intercepted in Solca and driven by local men aged 24 and 32. On 23 June at the Siret crossing, a Hungarian‑registered car, whose engine and transmission numbers did not match the chassis, was found to be wanted by Italian authorities and valued at over 131,000 lei. All three cars were confiscated and the drivers are being investigated for illegal possession under the coordination of the Rădăuţi prosecutor’s office.
