Romanian boy transferred to Bucharest after Budapest tram accident

A six-year-old Romanian boy has been transported to a hospital in Bucharest after being struck by a tram at Batthyány tér in Budapest. The accident occurred in late August when the child reportedly ran in front of the vehicle while visiting the city with his family.

Following the accident, medical teams in Hungary performed extensive surgery to treat broken ribs and a fractured hip. Hungarian doctors reportedly determined that the child had no hope of recovery and was being kept alive solely by life-support machines. Disagreeing with the decision to disconnect the equipment, the family utilized a foundation to fly the child to Bucharest, where he remains in critical but stable condition and continues to require mechanical life support.
