Romanian cities cut hazardous trees in Bistrița and Bucharest

A storm in Bistrița caused a tree to fall in the Municipal Park. The local SVSU team removed the tree without injuries and mayor Gabriel Lazany pledged to continue cutting trees that pose a danger, urging residents to report old or unstable trees.

In Bucharest, authorities announced that more than 100 trees in Herăstrău Park will be removed as part of lake‑shore consolidation work. Each tree is being evaluated individually; dangerous specimens will be cut while valuable ones may be retained with technical adjustments. The lowering of the lake has created new habitats for various bird species. The work, which began over a month ago, is expected to restore the park to its normal appearance by next year.
