Romanian cities implement new urban parking solutions

In Vaslui, the local administration has approved the development of a new parking facility at the site of the old bazaar on Decebal Street. The project will provide a total of 85 spaces, including 71 standard spots, 3 for persons with disabilities, 8 for bicycles, and 3 for motorcycles. Additionally, the plan includes two electric vehicle charging stations, green spaces, and modern public lighting. Mayor Lucian Braniște stated that the project is funded by reinvesting revenues generated from existing paid street parking.

In Bucharest's Sector 6, interim mayor Paul Moldovan has proposed a plan to alleviate local parking shortages by utilizing hypermarket parking lots. The proposal suggests allowing neighborhood residents to use these large commercial spaces overnight, specifically between 21:00 and 08:00, via a subscription model. The system would utilize existing license plate recognition technology to manage access. This initiative aims to provide extra spaces for residents while generating additional revenue for retailers from underutilized infrastructure.
