Romanian cities progress stadium upgrades and new constructions

In Suceava, intensive works are under way at the historic “Areni” stadium ahead of a friendly match on 11 July between Cetatea 1932 Suceava and Liga I side FC Botoșani. Manager Ciprian Anton confirmed that the fence around the main stand will be raised to the required two‑metre height, new seating for 1,500 spectators will be installed, ecological toilets added, and eight surveillance cameras set up. Additional reinforcement of the opposite stand’s foundation and improvements to the pitch are also being carried out.

Meanwhile, in Hunedoara, demolition of the current arena is scheduled to begin in September and finish by year‑end, allowing construction of a new stadium to start in January 2027. The planned 10,100‑seat venue will meet FIFA and UEFA standards and include VIP, media and disabled sections, modern illumination, electronic scoreboard, extensive locker‑room facilities, medical rooms, conference spaces, a restaurant and commercial areas, as well as a 435‑car parking lot. The club Corvinul Hunedoara will continue to host matches at Arad’s “Francisc Neuman” stadium, and is also considering a temporary move to Petroșani’s “Petre Libardi” once its upgrades are complete.
