Romanian cities Tecuci and Bucharest advance summer road and tram projects

In Tecuci, municipal officials continued a series of infrastructure upgrades throughout July. Work began on July 1 with the placement of a wear layer for parking areas in the industrial zone, followed by the modernization of Strada Plugului, which now includes new sidewalks and drainage work on the CAP‑Mălureni stretch. The mayor, Lucian Costin, announced that the first asphalt layer will be laid soon, with further drainage and curb‑side improvements planned, and that energy‑efficiency renovations on blocks T1A and T1B are 91 % complete. The contract for these works is valued at roughly 11.74 million lei and is funded by non‑reimbursable EU resources.

In Bucharest, the City Hall reported that on July 4, despite it being a weekend, about 140 workers and 40 pieces of equipment remained on the Prelungirea Ghencea boulevard. The project proceeds on three sections: between Str. Brașov and Str. Râul Doamnei, where tram‑line infrastructure (excavations, foundations, track‑laying) is nearing completion; between Str. Râul Doamnei and Str. Valea Oltului, focusing on utility relocation, protective walls and pole foundations; and between Str. Valea Oltului and Str. Mărăcineni, currently in early stages with utility work and foundation preparation. From next week, preparations will begin for a retention basin on Str. Mărăcineni, followed by full construction of the basin and continued road and tram‑line development.
