Romanian citizen rescued near Matka in North Macedonia
A Romanian national went missing on the night of 21:55 near the Vrelo cave in the Matka area of the Saraj municipality, North Macedonia. The caller used the universal emergency number 112, prompting the Centre for Crisis Management (CUK) to activate a coordinated response. CUK alerted the Ministry of Interior, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue and the Red Cross of North Macedonia, and maintained continuous communication with the missing person to pinpoint his location.
Police units, including the video surveillance and reconstruction unit of the Special Operations Unit in Skopje and the Saraj police station, joined the search. Because of the difficult terrain, rescuers accessed the site through Jasens National Park, with CUK director Mohammed Ali driving a field vehicle to support the operation. The individual was located at 03:45 in stable health, though slightly disoriented, and was taken to the Saraj police station for further processing.
