Romanian communes Bradu and Brădeanu approve major water and sewage upgrades

The Bradu commune council approved a local resolution in July 2026 to fund the expansion of water and sewage networks across several streets. The mayor, Dan Stroe, said the projects, financed entirely from the commune’s budget, will cost more than 1.23 million lei (including VAT) and aim to extend both water supply and wastewater collection to improve public utilities for residents.

In the neighboring Brădeanu commune, authorities launched an integrated infrastructure programme to extend potable‑water distribution and build new sewage collection and treatment facilities. The scheme, financed with a 19 million‑lei grant—the largest ever for the commune—has raised concerns about the sequencing of works, as earlier incidents in the nearby Cochirleanca area led to uncontrolled wastewater discharges and legal actions against local officials. Environmental inspectors have warned that completing the sewage network before the treatment plant could repeat those environmental hazards.
