Romanian communes secure tens of millions for water, sewage and solar hospital upgrades

The commune of Fundeni announced a total of 45 million lei in funding to modernise its water and sewage infrastructure, the largest amount ever allocated to the sector in the locality’s history. Mayor Gheorghiță Cărtușanu said a 20 million‑lei contract with the Administraţia Fondului pentru Mediu was signed on 24 July 2026, complementing a previous 25 million‑lei investment from the national “Anghel Saligny” programme. The funds will extend water and sewer networks to more households, improving public health and environmental protection.

In Galaţi County, the County Council approved the “Green Energy for People” project, an investment of nearly 48 million lei to install photovoltaic parks, energy‑storage systems and heat‑pump installations at several public facilities, including the Galaţi County Hospital, Tecuci’s Anton Cincu Hospital and the Târgu Bujor municipal hospital. The project, presented by Council President Costel Fotea, will provide over 3.15 MW of renewable capacity, covering up to 98 % of the hospitals’ electricity needs and reducing the Galaţi hospital’s annual energy bill by about 5 million lei, savings that will be redirected to medical services.
