Romanian Consumer Protection Authority fines operators 3.6 million lei

The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) carried out inspections of more than 1,300 economic operators in Romania between 1‑5 June, focusing on the safety of products and services offered in children’s and youth recreation venues. During the checks, over 180 leisure facilities were examined ahead of International Children’s Day.

The inspections resulted in 817 contraventional fines totaling over 3.6 million lei, 612 warnings, the permanent withdrawal from sale of non‑conforming products worth about 157,000 lei, temporary suspension of products worth roughly 174,000 lei, and the suspension of economic activity for 28 operators until deficiencies are remedied. Reported violations included unsafe equipment, lack of proper age‑height signage, and inadequate maintenance of the facilities.
