Romanian courts reject speed‑limit challenges in Carei and Sibiu
A driver in Carei was caught traveling 147 km/h on a bypass where the limit was 90 km/h. Video from the radar showed the excess of 57 km/h, leading the court to uphold a fine of 1,822.5 lei and a 90‑day suspension of the driver's licence.
In Sibiu, a driver recorded at 102 km/h on a road with a 50 km/h limit appealed the 1,305 lei fine. Using Google Maps and street‑view evidence that speed signs were not installed, the Tribunal annulled the fine and restored the driver’s licence.
