Romanian drivers convicted of DUI offenses in Argeș and Gorj

A 63‑year‑old man driving on DC 42A near Poienarii de Muscel in Argeș was stopped by police on 22 September 2025. A breath‑alcohol test showed a reading above the legal limit and laboratory analysis confirmed a blood alcohol level exceeding 0.80 g/L. The case was forwarded to the Câmpulung prosecutor’s office with a proposal to bring the driver to trial for driving under the influence.

In a separate incident, a 36‑year‑old resident of Dragotești, Gorj, was arrested on 13 January 2024 after police attempted to stop his vehicle for erratic driving. He refused both the breath‑alcohol test and subsequent medical sampling, later admitting he had consumed two beers. A court sentenced him to one year in prison, a two‑year supervisory period and 90 days of community service for refusing the test and endangering traffic safety.
