Romanian drug network busted in Bistrița‑Năsăud and Cluj, over 23 kg of cannabis seized
Romanian anti‑organized crime prosecutors (DIICOT) and police dismantled a large drug‑trafficking ring that supplied cannabis to the counties of Bistrița‑Năsăud and Cluj. A 29‑year‑old man was placed in preventive detention for 30 days as the suspected coordinator of the storage operation, after investigators turned a basement in Cluj‑Napoca into a hidden depot and recovered 10 kg of cannabis ready for sale.
The raids uncovered more than 23 kg of cannabis in total, seized cash amounting to tens of thousands of lei and a luxury vehicle believed to have been used for transport. Two suspects were jailed, two placed under judicial control, and three additional young men (aged 21‑25) are under investigation; one was caught selling 1.5 kg of cannabis for 33,000 lei. Police continue to probe the full extent of the distribution network.
