Romanian education system faces systemic challenges and reform needs
Discussions regarding the Romanian educational system highlight systemic challenges ranging from classroom management to technological integration. In Maramureș, concerns have been raised regarding the distribution of children during the formation of preparatory classes. Specifically, reports suggest that children exhibiting deviant behaviors are often concentrated in single classrooms without formal special education diagnoses, as many parents decline such labels to avoid stigmatization. This leaves teachers, many of whom lack specialized training in psychopedagogy, to manage complex classroom dynamics without legal or curricular support.
Broadening the scope to national educational issues, experts are addressing the rise of functional illiteracy, a decline in reading habits, and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the learning process. Discussions focus on the need for meaningful educational reforms that provide concrete benefits to both students and teachers, while fostering critical thinking in an era of rapid digital information consumption.
