Romanian farmers apply for 65 million euros in livestock aid

Over 35,000 farmers in Romania have applied for state aid targeting the cattle and swine sectors. According to APIA, 35,477 applications were submitted for cattle and buffalo, covering a total of 742,969 animals. The support for the cattle sector is set at 68 euros per head, with a total allocated budget of 54.4 million euros.

In the swine sector, 234 applications were registered, involving 1,205,621 fattening pigs and 126,679 breeding animals. The support amounts to 11.9 euros per housing unit for fattening pigs and 13.7 euros for breeding animals, with a total budget of 11.54 million euros. The total funding for both schemes exceeds 65 million euros.

APIA will conduct administrative verifications and legal controls. If the total value of eligible applications exceeds the available budget, the support amount per animal or housing unit will be reduced proportionally for all beneficiaries.
