Romanian film festivals announce upcoming programs in Oradea and Lugoj

Several film festivals are scheduled to take place in Romania this September. The 9th edition of TIFF Oradea will run from September 25 to 27, featuring over 30 films. The program includes award-winning productions from the Cannes and Locarno festivals, such as Paweł Pawlikowski’s ‘Fatherland’, Andrey Zvyagintsev’s ‘Minotaur’, and Radu Jude’s ‘The Maid’s Journal’. Other notable entries include Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘Bitter Christmas’ and Florin Șerban’s ‘It’s Not Your Place Here’.

In Lugoj, the Banatul Montan Film Festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary from September 17 to 20 at Casa Bredicenilor. The four-day event combines film screenings with musical recitals and lectures. The program features works such as ‘Brâncuși… from Eternity’, Corneliu Porumboiu’s Cannes award-winning ‘Was It or Was It Not?’, and the classic adaptation of Mihail Sadoveanu’s ‘The Hatchet’. The festival also includes educational components designed to support local high school students.
