Romanian Film Festivals Attract Audiences in Moldova and Timișoara
The sixth edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) Chișinău ran from 24 to 26 July 2026 in Moldova, drawing more than 3,200 spectators. Funded for a third consecutive year by Romania’s Department for Relations with Moldova, the event featured Romanian and international auteur films, discussions with production teams, master‑classes and workshops for industry professionals. Organisers highlighted the festival’s role in deepening cultural dialogue between Romania and Moldova.
From 5 to 9 August 2026, the Festivalul de Film Românesc took place in Timișoara, Romania, offering five evenings of free open‑air screenings at the Maria Theresa Bastion. The programme combined classic Romanian comedies and recent titles, with special sessions for children on 8 and 9 August. The festival showcased works ranging from the 1972 musical comedy "Astă seară dansăm în familie" to the contemporary film "Retreat Vama Veche" (2024).
