Romanian film events summer 2026

In late July 2026 Romania’s film programming expanded across both festival venues and commercial cinemas. The Transilvania International Film Festival held a third edition in Chișinău, Moldova (24‑26 July), supported by Romania’s Department for Relations with Moldova, and showcased Romanian and international auteur works to over 3,200 spectators. A week later (5‑9 August) the Festivalul de Film Românesc took place outdoors in Timișoara, offering classic Romanian comedies and contemporary titles, with special children’s screenings.

Concurrently, Romanian cinemas announced their summer line‑ups. Cinema Palace in Oradea listed a mix of Hollywood releases and family‑friendly titles such as Evil Dead Burn, Minions & Monsters, Moana, Spider‑Man: Brand New Day and Toy Story 5 for 31 July‑6 August. In Zalău, Cinematograful Scala scheduled films including Heidi, Supergirl, Omul‑Păianjen: O nouă zi and Vaiana, alongside planetarium shows on astronomy. These schedules illustrate a coordinated effort to promote both Romanian cinema and international blockbusters during the summer season.
