Romanian Finance Ministry bans ChatGPT and personal email use on work computers
Interim finance minister Alexandru Nazare signed an order that bars employees of the Ministry of Finance, the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) and the Romanian Customs Authority from using artificial‑intelligence platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot on official workstations. The decree also blocks access to personal e‑mail accounts, cloud‑storage services, social‑media applications, online translation tools and USB storage devices.
The measure, justified by “cyber‑security risks generated by both state and non‑state actors,” takes effect immediately and is intended to strengthen the protection of the ministries’ data and IT systems.
