Romanian fires in Suceava and Iași cause property damage and one injury

A strong fire broke out on 18 June 2026 in a household in Voievodeasa, Sucevița commune, Suceava County. The blaze, likely started by a defective electrical conductor in an animal shelter, burned the shelter roof (≈50 m²), the house roof (≈60 m²), a neighboring wall (≈10 m²) and an attached summer kitchen (≈40 m²). Three owners were affected but no human casualties occurred. Firefighters from the Rădăuți detachment, assisted by local volunteer emergency services, deployed six fire trucks and an ambulance and extinguished the flames by about 21:25 after roughly 90 minutes, saving the main residence and a nearby annex.

On 17 June 2026 a kitchen fire erupted in a house on Obreja Street in Iași city, caused by an explosive gas mixture when the homeowner attempted to light the stove. The woman suffered first‑degree burns to her face and arms and was transferred by a mobile intensive‑care team to hospital for treatment. Two fire trucks and a first‑aid crew from the Iași fire detachment contained the fire to the kitchen, preventing its spread to the rest of the dwelling and neighboring properties. No other victims were reported.
