Romanian food safety authorities issue fines and reopen facilities

In Romania, veterinary and food safety authorities have conducted several inspections and regulatory actions across different regions. In Hunedoara, the DSVSA identified numerous irregularities during August, including improperly stored or labeled food, products sold in unapproved sanitary-veterinary spaces, and issues regarding hygiene and facility maintenance. These inspections covered 638 facilities, including slaughterhouses, processing units, and pharmacies, resulting in 41 fines totaling 70,000 lei and 11 warnings. Authorities also investigated unregistered animals and veterinary medicinal product sales. No outbreaks of African swine fever or small ruminant pest were confirmed in the county during this period.

In Suceava, the DSVSA has reopened the dairy hall at the Central Agro-Food Market following the remediation of previously identified deficiencies. Inspectors confirmed that the facility had undergone proper cleaning and disinfection, implemented operational procedures for hygiene, repaired insect screens, and installed rodent traps. The reopening follows a request from the Suceava Market Administration after verifying that all sanitary-veterinary legal requirements were met.
