The National Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) carried out two large inspection campaigns in July 2026. On the Black Sea coast, inspectors visited 239 food‑service establishments between 20 and 26 July, issuing 26 administrative fines worth a total of 280 000 lei and suspending the operation of two locations for serious food‑safety breaches. The most common violations were inadequate maintenance of processing areas, improper handling, labeling and storage of food products.

In a separate nationwide sweep of gas‑station outlets, ANSVSA examined 217 points of sale that prepare or sell food. Inspectors applied 19 fines totalling 134 800 lei and ordered the temporary suspension of one operator. Reported deficiencies included missing staff competency records, lack of changing rooms or hot‑water facilities, traceability gaps, poor equipment maintenance, absent waste‑reduction procedures and no cold storage for animal by‑products.

ANSVSA President Alexandru Nicolae Bociu said the actions confirm the agency’s commitment to high food‑safety standards throughout the summer season and announced that inspections will continue across the country.
