Romanian football stadiums in Craiova and Pitești receive major upgrades

The Ion Oblemenco stadium in Craiova has completed a modernization of its playing surface, installing an 8,000‑square‑metre hybrid grass system with upgraded drainage, aeration and de‑icing. Mayor Lia Olguța Vasilescu announced the work on Facebook, noting that the first match on the new turf will be the Romanian Supercup on 12 July, followed by a UEFA Champions League preliminary round tie against Belarusian side ML Vitebsk on 15 July.

In Pitești, construction of the new Nicolae Dobrin stadium has progressed, with the contractor Erbașu sharing recent site images. Work began officially in January 2026 on the former Trivale arena site, with an expected completion window of 26‑36 months. The venue will feature 200 seats, a 500‑car parking area, LED façade lighting, renewable‑energy systems and a range of facilities including a club museum, medical and anti‑doping rooms, and multifunctional training spaces.
