Romanian Foreign Ministry Issues Typhoon Bavi Travel Warning for China

Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Romanian citizens in, transiting through, or planning to travel to the People’s Republic of China that Typhoon Bavi, expected to strike from 9 July 2026, will affect coastal provinces including Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Taiwan and the autonomous region of Guangxi. The storm is forecast to bring significantly intensified winds, heavy rainfall, and a high risk of flooding and landslides.

The ministry advised travellers to take all necessary safety measures, to monitor local authorities’ recommendations, and to contact the Romanian embassy in Beijing or the consulate‑general in Shanghai for information and consular assistance. Emergency phone numbers for the embassy and consulate were also provided. Chinese authorities have urged vessels at sea to return to ports and urged the public to adopt precautionary measures.
