Moldovan woman charged in 520,000‑lei spiritual‑ritual fraud

A 65‑year‑old woman from the Râșcani district of Moldova has been charged with fraud after allegedly acting as a courier in a scheme that convinced a victim to pay more than 520,000 lei for fictitious “spiritual cleaning” rituals. Prosecutors say the scheme was promoted through a social‑media video impersonating a well‑known clairvoyant and involved multiple payments transferred to the accused on 15 December 2025 and subsequent dates. The woman admitted receiving the sums but claims she was unaware of any illegality. If found guilty, she faces up to eight years in prison and a fine.

The case was investigated by the Bălţi Prosecutor’s Office and the Fălești Police, and the criminal file has been forwarded to the court for trial.
