Romanian Government Increases Funding for Galați Bypass Expropriations

The Romanian Government approved an additional ~490,000 lei to compensate property owners affected by the "Varianta de Ocolire Galaţi" road project. The increase follows a cadastral review that identified 79 properties and two additional sites within the expropriation corridor, prompting the need for extra funds.

The extra money will be drawn from the State Budget allocated to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, ensuring that compensation payments can proceed without delaying the bypass construction. The bypass is a key infrastructure initiative aimed at diverting heavy traffic away from Galaţi, improving travel times and supporting regional economic development in eastern Romania.
