Romanian Government Meets Fuel Companies Over Supply Issues

On 31 July 2026 the Romanian government held a working meeting at Palatul Victoria with senior officials of the Ministry of Energy – state secretaries Cristian Bușoi and Sorin Elisei – and representatives of major oil firms including Petrom, Socar, MOL România, Lukoil, Oscar and Rompetrol. The talks focused on recent rail‑transport delays from the Oil Terminal to domestic depots and on measures to keep fuel deliveries uninterrupted.

The government noted that the participating companies have assured they have sufficient stocks to meet demand for the coming period and do not anticipate major shortages. Officials said possible solutions to streamline internal rail logistics are being examined, while recent legislation declaring a fuel‑market crisis, cutting diesel excise, limiting diesel exports and imposing higher taxes on exceptional profits was highlighted as a backdrop to the discussion.
