Romanian Government to Appeal Court of Appeal Suspension of Six Ordinances

The Bucharest Court of Appeal, at the request of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), suspended six ordinances adopted by the Romanian Government. The suspended measures include financial support for adults with disabilities and young people leaving residential centers, access for Romanian transplant patients to the European FOEDUS organ exchange platform, and provisions needed to meet milestones of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The government warned that the suspension could jeopardise EU funding, delay renewable‑energy projects and trigger infringement procedures.

The executive announced it will file an accelerated appeal, with hearings scheduled to begin on 30 July. PSD secretary‑general Claudiu Manda launched a sharp criticism of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and the PNL, accusing the government of “illegitimate governance” and alleging that the dispute threatens billions of euros and the country’s credibility.
