Romanian heat wave pressures greenhouse farms and pushes temperatures near 33‑34°C

Farmers growing tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers in Romanian greenhouses are facing extreme internal temperatures that can exceed 40 °C during July heat waves. General Manager Razvan Patrascu of BACAS warned that the heat leads to flower abortion, irregular fruit development, increased water use and significant profit losses, urging better ventilation, monitoring and balanced irrigation.

Meteorologists in Satu Mare forecast a week of high temperatures, with daytime highs around 30‑33 °C and overnight lows near 16‑18 °C. The outlook includes occasional thunderstorms and local rain, especially toward the weekend, and officials advise limiting sun exposure and staying well hydrated.

Both the agricultural sector and the general public are expected to feel the economic and health impacts of the prolonged heat.
