Romanian Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu honors police officers for anti‑contraband efforts

On National Flag Day, Romanian Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu presented emblems of honour, plaques and diplomas to Ministry of Interior personnel who distinguished themselves through responsibility and performance. Among the awardees was Satu Mare border police commissioner Ionuț Sebastian Găvruș, recognized for his role in identifying and dismantling a contraband network that included a clandestine tobacco factory.

Other honoured officers included Moisil Lazăr‑Doruț for coordinating a rescue of four Ukrainian citizens in the mountains and Bungă Marius‑Petrică for uncovering a cannabis cultivation operation. The ceremony took place at the ministry’s headquarters, with attendees present in person and via videoconference, and highlighted the symbolic importance of the national flag as embodied by the honoured staff.
