Romanian Interior Minister Cătălin Predoiu says public safety is now a national brand

Interim Interior Minister Cătălin Predoiu told reporters in Constanța on 10 July that the pilot project to reorganise the Constanța police inspectorate has increased summer staffing, eliminating the need for detached officers on the seaside. He said the additional personnel and pre‑positioned units allow the ministry to balance presence with public order needs.

Predoiu also claimed that Romania’s public‑safety record has become a "brand of the country", noting that many Western European visitors consider Romania safer than their own nations. He cited an ambassador’s daughter who chose to continue her studies in Bucharest because she felt secure there, using the example to stress the importance of preserving this reputation.
