ITM Cluj imposes 718,500 lei in fines on construction firms

During the April‑June 2026 national inspection campaign, the Labor Inspection Office in Cluj (ITM Cluj) audited 149 employers in the county’s construction sector. The operation resulted in sanctions totalling 718,500 lei covering both labour‑relation and occupational‑safety violations.

In the labour‑relation area, 12 companies were fined 680,000 lei for employing 18 workers without individual contracts. Four firms received 7,500 lei for breaching work‑time regulations, and three firms were penalised 13,000 lei for delayed wage payments, failure to present required documents and not transmitting contract data to the Reges system.

Regarding health and safety, inspectors issued 38 contraventions – 33 warnings and five fines amounting to 18,000 lei – and halted four pieces of equipment deemed dangerous. Reported deficiencies included lack of periodic training, improper use of protective gear, incorrectly assembled scaffolding, exposed electrical cables and unauthorised operation of machinery. A total of 38 corrective measures with specific deadlines were ordered.
