Romanian labour inspectorate fines firms in Vaslui and Alba counties

The Territorial Labour Inspectorate in Vaslui County carried out 88 inspections in June, sanctioning 33 employers and issuing 67 contraventions worth a total of 984,500 lei. The most severe violations involved undeclared work, with 12 employers found using 19 workers without legal contracts; fines for these offences amounted to 730,000 lei and each employer was penalised 40,000 lei per illegal worker. Inspectors also ordered 207 remedial measures to correct the breaches.

In Alba County, inspectors examined 51 employers covering 445 employees between 6‑10 July. They identified 65 labour‑law deficiencies and imposed 35 sanctions, including three fines of 9,000 lei and one warning. Additional health‑and‑safety checks revealed 31 deficiencies, leading to 31 sanctions and a fine of 4,000 lei for one firm. Reported issues ranged from late salary payments and missing overtime pay to inadequate safety documentation and lack of medical examinations for workers.
