Romanian PNL accuses PSD of blocking EU fund withdrawals
The National Liberal Party (PNL) says the Social Democratic Party (PSD) is turning Romania’s national interest into a tool for political confrontation, threatening the country’s ability to draw down European Union recovery funds. PNL statements claim the interim government led by Ilie Bolojan is acting within the constitution to protect investments, infrastructure projects and the obligations of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), while PSD is filing court challenges that PNL describes as deliberate blocks to EU financing.
PNL deputy Alexandru Muraru also warned that Russia’s hybrid aggression is escalating, after Romania’s air force shot down a third Russian drone in three days. Muraru called for the expulsion of Russian diplomats, citing the drones as part of a broader Russian attempt to test NATO’s eastern flank.
