Romanian local councils approve multi‑hundred‑million‑lei infrastructure projects
The Argeș County Council convened an urgent meeting to endorse a major upgrade of the A1 expressway between Pitești and Mioveni. The plan, part of the strategic "Brașovia Express" corridor, involves a 15.09‑km road with new bridges, viaducts and interchanges, and carries an estimated investment of 2.69 trillion lei (about €527 million). Completion is projected within 36 months.
Separately, the Călărași Local Council formally approved two large‑scale initiatives totaling 181 million lei. Funding will primarily support the purchase of electric buses and the rehabilitation of key municipal arteries, alongside expanding bicycle lanes and modernising public transport stations. Both councils aim to improve traffic safety, reduce travel times and stimulate regional economic development.
