Romanian local officials face mandate terminations and resignations
Several local officials in Romania are facing the end of their mandates or political resignations following legal investigations and integrity findings.
In Neamț County, the mandate of Crăcăoani Mayor Alexandrina Raclariu is being terminated following a finding by the National Integrity Agency regarding a conflict of interest. The issue arose after the mayor signed a provision to employ her son as the commune's public administrator. Additionally, Raclariu faces criminal investigation for complicity in the diversion of public tenders. Other local officials, including Grigore Agapie and Nicolae Pricope, are also facing mandate terminations under the provisions of the Fritz Law.
In Satu Mare County, Nicolae Cornea Mare, the mayor of Socond, has resigned from all political positions within the National Liberal Party (PNL). This decision follows the imposition of judicial control against him. The PNL Satu Mare organization stated it respects the resignation and maintains confidence in the judicial process to clarify the situation while upholding the presumption of innocence.
