Romanian Mayors Report Local Projects in Găești and Sărmașu

Alexandru Iorga, mayor of Găești, marked six months in office by highlighting several infrastructure and social initiatives. The city began construction of an 89‑million‑lei bypass funded by Dâmbovița County Council, received three times more county funding for development, and launched health services including a new MRI scanner, approval for a CT scanner, free medical care for uninsured patients, and an EU‑funded home‑care project for 108 seniors. Social support measures comprised food packages for low‑income pensioners and disabled persons, and continued assistance for vulnerable groups. In education, renovation work started at two technological high schools and a primary school, while a new sports hall and swimming pool were reopened. Utilities improvements included potable water to the Arsuri district, new sewage work on Republicii and Viitorului streets, street repairs and lighting upgrades.

Valer Botezan, mayor of Sărmașu, reflected on two years since his re‑election, emphasizing ongoing projects such as the expansion of the town’s sewage network, which has faced political obstruction. He noted numerous documentation, meetings and initiatives aimed at improving local infrastructure and community welfare, stressing resilience and collective effort despite legal and political challenges.

Both mayors conveyed a commitment to continue developing their towns and addressing residents’ needs.
