Romanian military downs two drones in airspace

Interim Minister of National Defense Radu Miruță announced that Romanian military pilots successfully downed two drones within the country's airspace. The operation marked three significant firsts for the Ministry of National Defense.

First, two drones were intercepted consecutively within a four-and-a-half-minute interval. Second, the drones were engaged and downed almost immediately after entering Romanian airspace, a feat Miruță attributed to predictive statistical modeling that allowed fighter jets to be positioned at the expected interception point in advance.

Third, the intercepted aircraft were the first turbo-prop engine drones to be downed over Romanian territory.
