Romanian mountain rescue teams air‑evacuate injured tourists and youths in the Făgăraș and Piatra Craiului mountains

Salvamont Argeș carried out several rescue missions in the Piatra Craiului and Vâlsan Cascade areas. A 47‑year‑old man from Bucharest was air‑lifted after a muscle blockage, two women (a 46‑year‑old Romanian and a 39‑year‑old Iraqi) were safely descended from a steep sector, and a 16‑year‑old boy with a dislocated shoulder was evacuated by a SMURD helicopter.

In parallel, Salvamont Sibiu responded to two urgent incidents in the Făgăraș and Cindrel ranges. A paraglider trapped in a tree was extracted, and a 10‑year‑old boy who fell from a bike suffered a knee injury and was taken to medical care. The Sibiu team also joined Argeș rescuers in retrieving the body of a 74‑year‑old man who died after a high‑altitude fall.

All operations involved coordination between regional mountain rescue units and SMURD air‑medical services, resulting in the safe evacuation of all living patients and the recovery of the deceased.
