Romanian municipal infrastructure projects encounter delays and resident complaints

The Brașov City Hall has entered the design phase for a new rainwater collector serving the Tractorul residential district. The 3.5‑kilometre underground system, estimated at 18.2 million lei, will channel stormwater to the Timiș Creek. The municipality is negotiating a contract with Vis Proiect SRL for the technical project, following a feasibility study and ongoing land‑expropriation procedures.

In the commune of Cristești, a PNRR‑funded renovation programme targeting 14 apartment blocks – valued at about 7.7 million lei and intended to improve energy efficiency – has been criticised by residents. Complaints include persistent water infiltrations after recent rains, slow progress with multiple work crews, and alleged construction flaws such as insufficient reinforcement and improper sealing. One resident, Emil Almășan, said, "The project should have been good, but the firm that won the contract seems unprofessional," while others reported damaged electrical installations and interior damage.

Both projects illustrate challenges faced by local authorities in delivering large‑scale infrastructure improvements amid technical and logistical difficulties.
