Romanian municipalities fund redevelopment of former industrial sites

The Brașov City Hall has allocated 350,000 lei to resume the drafting of a zoning plan for the former Rulmentul industrial platform. The procedure, halted after a legal contest over a competition, was re‑opened on 22 October 2024 and includes plans to clean up hazardous waste left from the plant’s closure.

Separately, the Central Region development program announced a non‑reimbursable budget of €10.85 million to support new and upgraded industrial parks. The call for proposals, running from 20 July to 2 October 2026, targets both greenfield and brownfield projects, aiming to improve infrastructure, utilities and services for businesses across the region.
