Romanian officials respond to drone incidents in Galați building and Constanța port

In Galați, a drone that fell through a ceiling damaged a building's gas infrastructure. The prefecture restored natural‑gas supply to most apartments, noting that six units remain offline while inspections continue. Prefect George Toderașc said authorities will keep monitoring the situation and work with all institutions to ensure safe living conditions. The incident injured a mother (first‑degree burns) and her 14‑year‑old son with minor wounds. Local mayor Ionuț Pucheanu thanked Romanian expatriate Romina Gingașu for offering the family a new apartment.

A week later, a foreign‑origin maritime drone was discovered in the Port of Constanța. It travelled about seven kilometres before self‑detonating at around 10:30 a.m. after being secured by emergency services. Authorities placed the area under red‑alert, closed nearby beaches in Costinești and deployed helicopters to search for additional devices. The incident raised security concerns for the strategic Black‑Sea port.

Both incidents prompted coordinated emergency responses and heightened public safety warnings across the regions.
