Romanian organ transplants save lives in Iași and Brașov

In Iași, the family of a brain‑dead patient consented to organ donation, enabling five transplants that saved five lives, according to local reports.

In Brașov, a 58‑year‑old mother, Antonia, donated a kidney to her 33‑year‑old son, Mădălin, who had been on dialysis for four years due to polycystic kidney disease. The operation was performed at Saint Constantine Hospital, marking the fifth renal transplant of 2026 and the 47th overall at the Centre for Renal Transplant "Prof. Gilles Mentha". The new kidney began functioning immediately, ending Mădălin’s dialysis treatment.
