Romanian PM Ilie Bolojan inspects progress on A3 Transylvania motorway

Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan visited several sites of the A3 Transylvania motorway to check construction progress and meet with contractors. The inspected stretch links Nădășelu, Topa Mică and Poarta Sălajului, including the Românași road node.

The 42.78‑km section comprises two road nodes, 14 bridges and passages, and 18 viaducts. Its total cost exceeds 4.6 billion lei, of which 1.28 billion lei is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) alongside EU and national funds. Sub‑sections Nădășelu‑Mihăiești and Mihăiești‑Zimbor (24.59 km) are 96.9 % complete, slated for hand‑over in October 2026. The Zimbor‑Poarta Sălajului sub‑section (12.24 km) is 99 % finished, while the Românași junction is at 90 % with an expected completion in August 2026. Contractors include the local firm UMB and Turkey’s Ozaltin, which is constructing a 3.2‑km mega‑viaduct.
