Romanian PNRR Funds Energy‑Efficient School Renovations in Zalău and Moșnița

The Gheorghe Șincai Pedagogical High School in Zalău has completed a major energy‑efficiency overhaul. The project, financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – Component 5 Renovation Wave, received a non‑repayable grant of 17,505,597.70 lei and a total contract value of 26,078,247.02 lei (VAT inclusive). Works included façade and roof insulation, replacement of windows, modernisation of interior finishes, installation of LED lighting, fire‑detection systems, solar photovoltaic and thermal panels, air‑to‑water heat pumps, and upgraded electrical and heating networks.

In the commune of Moșnița Nouă, the new “green” high school is nearing completion. Also funded under the PNRR, the construction began with design approval on 6 August 2025 and execution started on 10 October 2025. The building is certified as NZEB+, targeting near‑zero energy consumption. It will host 13 modern classrooms, specialised laboratories, a library, administrative offices, a dental clinic, sports fields, parking for 18 vehicles and extensive green areas. Local officials highlighted the project as a strategic investment for quality education and sustainable community development.
