Romanian police arrest suspects in Bucharest €10,000 robbery and stop drunk driver in Brașov

Police in Bucharest arrested two suspects and placed a third under judicial control after a foreign tourist was robbed of €10,000 in the Old Town on 2 May 2026. The perpetrators allegedly seized the victim’s cards and accessed his banking app to transfer the money to an account they controlled, converting it into local currency and withdrawing part of the sum in cash.

In a separate incident on the night of 3 June, officers in Zărnești, Brașov County, pursued a driver who ignored a stop signal. The driver was detained after a breath test showed a blood‑alcohol level of 0.96 mg/L. He was taken to a medical facility for sampling and is now the subject of a criminal investigation for driving under the influence.
