Romanian police conduct widespread traffic and safety operations

Law enforcement agencies across various Romanian counties have conducted extensive traffic safety operations and animal control measures.

In Argeș, police organized 142 checkpoints, conducting 472 sobriety tests and issuing 442 sanctions totaling over 109,000 lei. These actions resulted in 33 driver's licenses being retained and 24 vehicle registration certificates withdrawn, primarily due to speeding violations.

Other regional enforcement efforts included the ROADPOL SPEED European action. In Gorj, this resulted in 581 speeding sanctions and 49 retained licenses. In Tulcea, police issued 282 sanctions worth nearly 157,000 lei and retained 51 licenses. In Alba, a relay-style control system was deployed on DN1 to monitor high-risk accident zones.

In Bucharest, the Authority for Animal Supervision and Protection (ASPA) captured 42 dogs in the first ten days of August using various non-traumatic methods. Additionally, data from the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police indicates that Timiș, Bucharest, and Iași lead the country in sanctions for aggressive driving behavior, often triggered by citizen reports via mobile applications.
