Romanian police conduct traffic safety raids in Hunedoara and Gorj counties

Police units in Romania carried out traffic‑safety operations across two counties. In Hunedoara, officers in Petroșani conducted a raid that checked 223 people, inspected 78 vehicles and performed 18 alcohol tests. Seven contraventions were fined for a total of over 2,300 lei and three criminal cases were opened for driving under the influence, operating without a licence and using unregistered vehicles. The action also included checks of local businesses and security agents.

In Gorj county, police on 8 July targeted pedestrians, cyclists and electric‑scooter riders, issuing more than 100 fines that totalled over 10,000 lei. The sanctions covered 42 pedestrians, 57 cyclists and five e‑scooter users, alongside safety warnings aimed at reducing road accidents.
